Registration Policy

Definitions for the purposes of registration:

  • Returning team – a team meeting the required minimum number of returning Players.
    • Outdoor leagues – seven (7) returning Players.
    • Indoor leagues – five (5) returning Players.
  • New team – any team that does not qualify as a returning team.
  • Free Agent (FA) – a Player who properly completes the registration process.

In all cases:

  • If there are not enough team spots available, teams will be granted a spot on a first come, first serve basis based on the priority rules.
  • The earlier a Player or team registers, the more likely it will be for that Player or team to secure a spot in the league.  With limited space in all leagues, Players and teams are strongly encouraged to register as early as possible.

Team Registration Policy

During the first week of the early registration period, generally, (not including any extensions offered by the League), unless otherwise indicated by the League, a Returning team will be given priority for registration purposes as follows:

  • Primary Priority.  A team whose forfeit fee is carried over, returning to the same league (e.g., Sat Fall to Sat Spring).
    • A team whose forfeit fee is carried over from a prior season will have top priority to return to the same league in the subsequent season (e.g., Sat Fall to Sat Spring).  A team whose forfeit fee is carried over from a prior season will have priority to return to a different league in the subsequent season over any team having Secondary Priority.  (see Forfeit Policy: Forfeit Fine on Account – Carried Over/Refunded).
  • Secondary Priority.  A team whose forfeit fee is not carried over will have secondary priority to return to a league, in the following order:
    • A team that played in the most recent league on a particular day (e.g., Saturday league) will have a spot for the immediately subsequent league for the same day.  (For example, a team played in the Maryvale (Sat) league in summer, 2014 would have priority for the Maryvale (Sat) league in fall, 2014).
    • A team that played in the League at some time in the past will have a spot for the league of the same day in which that team previously played.  (For example, a team played in the Maryvale (Sat) league in summer, 2013 would have priority for the Maryvale (Sat) league in spring, 2014).

After the first week of the registration period, generally, unless otherwise indicated by the League, a Returning team and a New team will be given equal priority for registration purposes based on a first come, first serve basis.  Preference – but not priority – may be given by the League to a team that played in the League at some time in the past provided that team qualifies as a “returning team”.

For information on how determination is made for a team to be placed into a particular division in a given season, please see the League’s Division Placement Policy.

Free Agent (FA) Registration Policy

Priority.  The placement of a FA will be based on those FA’s who have completed the registration process (registered online and paid his/her registration fee).  Generally, a FA will be placed based on the order of completed registration, whenever possible.  When determining FA placement, the “skill level” and “preferred league (advanced v. standard)” indicated by the FA on the registration form are taken into consideration.

FA Placement.

  • The League will do whatever it can to place a properly registered FA in one of the following ways:
    • On an existing team (provided the team has an opening).
      • If a team requests one or more FA’s, the League will work to accommodate such a request.
      • If a team does not request any FA’s, the League will make inquiries as to whether any teams can accommodate one or more FA’s.
      • The League will not place a FA on a team that is not willing to accept the FA.
    • A team comprised of FA Players, provided:
      • There are sufficient FA’s to form a team; and
      • There is adequate space in the League for an additional team.
  • Any Player who registers as a FA will be contacted no later than roughly one week after the Roster Deadline for teams (as noted on the website) with information on any team placement.
    • A particular FA, once registered, may express his/her preference for a particular team, but the ultimate decision for placement rests with the League.
  • In the event that a FA is not able to be placed on a team, any registration fee will be refunded in its entirety (see Refund Policy for additional information).

Note:  Please understand that your placement in the League is not guaranteed, but conditional, as noted above.  The likelihood of your placement in the League is far greater provided you register as part of a team that has registered (or plans to register).  However, once registered as a FA, your placement on a particular team is permitted subject only to the League’s permission.
