Discretionary Policy

Commissioner’s message about rules, policies, and regulations:

The commitment of the Commissioner is to provide the League’s participants with a fun, collegial, and social recreational league that Players enjoy.  This commitment is one that is not taken lightly.  To that end, and after significant (and ongoing) thought, consideration, and discussion with Captains, certain rules, policies, and procedures have been developed for the League.

Although it is the Commissioner’s objective to have as few rules and policies in place as are necessary for the seamless operation of the League, new rules and policies as well as modifications are required from time to time in order to prevent Players from gaining an unfair advantage.  If a situation arises that is not directly addressed by the League’s rules, or if a rule is written that does not accomplish its intended objective, a determination will be made by the Commissioner in a manner that is as closely in line with the spirit of the rules as is reasonably practicable.  It is the Commissioner’s responsibility to enforce the rules and to be as fair and reasonable as possible in all circumstances.

It is understood that there will be times when Players may not agree with the rules or policies set forth, or with decisions rendered by the Commissioner.  In such an instance, the team’s Captain, on behalf of the team, is entitled to make a case for the outcome s/he feels is most appropriate.  The final determination, however, is made by the Commissioner.  Any decision by the Commissioner will be made after considering the team Captain’s position and by carefully weighing the facts and circumstances of each case.

Disciplinary Action:

The Commissioner retains the right to take any disciplinary action against any Player, which disciplinary action shall, in the discretion of the Commissioner, be commensurate with the nature and degree of a violation of the League Rules including, but not limited to:

  • Issuing one or more penalty cards;
  • Levying a suspension for one or more games;
  • Ejecting a Player for the remainder of the season; or
  • Permanently ejecting a Player from the League.

The Commissioner retains the right to take any disciplinary action against any team, which disciplinary action shall, in the discretion of the Commissioner, be commensurate with the nature and degree of a violation of the League Rules including, but not limited to:

  • Imposing one or more forfeits (including the forfeit fine);
  • Disallowing a team’s privilege for using non-roster players; or
  • Reducing the team’s points in the standings.
